Team #Innova Dominates e Start of 2012


While you were busy knocking winter’s dust off your Traveler, Team Innova has wasted no time setting the season’s early competitive pace.
One of the biggest headlines so far this year is the addition of Nikko Locastro to the Innova Star Team. Nikko is traveling with Dave Feldberg and Will Schusterick on the Non-Stop Disc Golf Tour, where they plan to hit over 40 events in 2012.

Brian Schweberger Wins Disc Golf’s Luther Britt Win or Swim IV in Lumberton, NC


The Luther Britt Win or Swim IV was held in Lumberton, NC over the weekend of February 25-26, 2012 with 45 disc golf players taking part in this PDGA sanctioned B-Tier event at the Luther Britt Disc Golf Course.

It was Brian Schweberger of Tarboro, North Carolina who was crowned champion in the open division, with an impressive final score of 21-under par. Last weekend at the Swingin DBs Chain Bangers Bash II, Schweberger finished in third place, and he was the winner of last month’s New Year Ripper II in addition to numerous victories last year, including the the Savannah Open, and the Fall Disc Golf Classic.

Terry Gallops of Raleigh, North Carolina who often plays alongside Schweberger, finished just behind him in second place with a final score of 18-under par. He came in at second place last weekend at the Swingin DBs Chain Bangers Bash II, and was the winner of last year’s North Carolina Flying Disc Championships in addition to many other victories.

At third place, scoring at even par was Chris Bryant of Autryville, North Carolina, and Dan Lambeth of Raleigh scored 4-over par to take fourth place in the open division.

Outstanding Disc Golf Pros: Catrina Allen and Ricky Wysocki Take #PDGA Rookie of the Year Honors


The PDGA announced both the 2011 Rookies of the Year and Players of the Year earlier this week. Winners will be presented with their award at the PDGA Awards Banquet that will be held during the 2012 Pro/Am World Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Disc golf team making impact on and off the field since 2009

The West Virginia Disc Golf Club has plans of making a run at a national championship at the end of the season, but it’s not only making an impact on the field.
Dating back to 2009, the Mountaineers have been making charitable efforts to give back to the community.
The first thing they did in 2009 was put in a clinic for local elementary school students during recess.
“We brought portable baskets and taught them the basic rules of the games. It was a fun and easy and gave a reason to get kids outside and play,” said Vice President Kevin Anderson.

#WVDGA #PDGA League Play to Begin in March

The West Virginia Disc Golf Assoc. llc will be hosting seasonal, 12-week PDGA leagues at the Seth Burton Memorial DG Complex and Dorsey’s Knob starting in March. Each 12-week session will be a point series consisting of “A” and “B” level divisions playing a singles round of 18 holes. Cost per event is $2 with $1 going to the PDGA fee and $1 to your division pool. At the end of each series, the top half of each division will be paid out from their pool.

PDGA Leagues?

PDGA Leagues will allow players to earn PDGA ratings and PDGA tour points just like they would at PDGA Tournaments. Non-PDGA members are encouraged to participate in our leagues as we will be using a universal point system allowing all players the chance to win.

Work Days Reward:

We will incorporate a bonus league points or “extra credit” for players who volunteer at the club work days on the mornings of league play. Work Days begin at 9:00 am and end around noon. Players must participate for at least 3 hours to earn these bonus points.

Fairmont Format:

We will meet at the Pavilion by #1 at 2:00 PM each Saturday and take registrations. Once split into groups, simply play your round, turn in the scorecard and you are done. This format will eliminate wait time at the end of your round. The TD will submit the scores to the PDGA web site after each league where they will be listed online for you to review.
